THE LABOR CONFERENCE. Received Sept. 22, 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 21. At the Labor Conference an American i delegate moved the adoption of the report of the War Aims Committee, accepting . President Wilson's principles and de- • daring Labor's intention to assist the war to the utmost until the Central Pow- | era are expelled from the invaded countries, and their militarism and autocracy . destroyed; also that the workers should hold a conference simultaneously with tbe peace conference, and be represented ■ at the latter. M. Noisk, in a speech, introduced a discussion on the new Russian report, declaring that intervention must be actuated by the desire to preserve liberty, democracy and a world peace. The closure was adopted and the report adopted after several French delegates had complained that British representation was ■ unduly heavy, and threatening to quit the conference. Subsequently it was decided that every large nation was entitled to twenty votes, and every small nation to five.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. RECRUITING IN IRELAND. Received Sept. 22, 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 21. It is officially announced that the recruiting period in Ireland has been extended from October 1 to October 15. Should recruiting fail, and conscription 1 become necessary, the preliminary steps ' to enforce conscription can only be taken L when Parliament is sitting; therefore , they cannot be taken before October 15. » —Aus. and N.Z.
