BOWLING.
BANNER COMPETITION. A meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Bowling Centre was held yesterday for the purpose of considering the matter of banner competitions. At the annual meeting of the centre it was decided that the executive should formulate a working scheme and submit the same to the various clubs for consideration, After some discussion, it was decided to submit the following three issues:— 1. That the clubs he divided into A and B sections, the A section to comprise all clubs of 40 members and over, and the B section clubs of less than 40 tnembers; matches to be played on the home-aiid-home principle; the final to : be played off between the winners of the two sections. 2. That banner matches be played on the district system, the districts to foe defined as follow: North—New Ply; mouth, West End, AVaitara, and Fitzrov; central—lnglewood, Stratford, EI-' thorn, and Hawera; western—Manaia," Auroa, Pihama, and Opunake. ■•vr 3. That banner matches be played on' the challenge system. It was decided that the voting power ■should be—one club one vote, and thaV replies from clubs must be received not later than October 12. In connection with the annual touma-. tnerit, the matter of affording more play for rinks was discussed, and it was de- r glided tihat a citizens' or consolation match be instituted, for all rinks outside section winners, details of arrangements left to a.'later date. Complimentary references were made to Mr- A. K- 'Smart on his appointment as a member of the Council of the Dominion Bawling Association.
