i DEATH FROM A FALL, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, Sept, 20. Mr. Arthur Hansford, manager of the Kairuru Marble Quarry, which supplies marble for the Parliamentary Buildings, died in hospital last night from injuries sustained by a fall from the mail-cart at Richmond on Wednesday afternoon. He asked the driver to stop, but jumped off while the car was still moving, and fell, receiving a severe fracture at the base of the skull. H« was an expert in quarry work, and his brother is one of the contractors for the Parliamentary Buildings. A MAORI KILLED. i Taumarunui, Last Night. A fatal accident occurred at Marvmui. A Maori resident named Pahi Matthews 1 was carting stones from the river-bed for the Maori Copper Trail sports carnival, when the horse took fright and the cart capsized on deceased, killing
him almost instantaneously.
