lARBITRATIONI ARBITRATION COURT! DENOUNCED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept 19. The local trades unions last night held a eonferencfa on the cost of living question, arid a committee was set up to go fully into the details of the matter. Resolutions were adopted, and tho opinion expressed thai the trend of legislation during the period had been in the direction of relieving the employer of liability towards workmen, while repressive measures had been framed to curb tho growing discontent amongst workers. j The conference declared t)>at tho Arbitration Court was a compjpts- failure, its judgments being without weight or value. Tho employers, when refusing to meet the workpeople to adjust wages to met the greatly increased cost of living, aro following a policy which must certainly lead to industrial upheaval.
