EGMONT SPRING MEETING. A SUCCESSFUL MEETING, KURNALPI WIS THE HUNT STEEIMS. The above gathering was responsible for a large attendance of Dominion sportsmen at Haw-era yesterday, and the club was very fortunate in getting the meeting off in fine weather. The morning broke cold and wintry, and those who motored to the meeting had a very cold time of it, the wind being unpleasantly "cutting," while snow covered the ground near Stratford. However, the sky brightened before noon, and tha conditions were almost ideal during the afternoon. Considering the rains of the past few days, the course was in good order, while the lawns and enclosures were looking at their best. Fields were targe and racing interesting, and the public had a rough time, favorites winning in the majority of events. The feature of the meeting was the introduction of steeplechase races, which provided splendid sport, and showed our hunters to b« a speedy, clean-jumping |Ot, The Noith Tarautaki Hunt Cnpwa< a splendid contest, and the win of Mr. Bert.
