Thei Naval Adviser (Captain Hall Thompson) advises that an enemy mine was washed up on the west coast of the North Island, about four miles south of Cape Maria van Dicraen. Another was found drifting off the coast in the vicinity of Cape Brett. Both mines have been secured, and the necessary steps taken to destroy them; WELLINGTON CENTRAL SEAT. Wellington, Last Night. Threo more candidates are announced for the Wellington Central seat:—Mr, J Mack. Independent Labor: J. E. Fitzgerald, Independent; L. J. F. Garnison, returned soldier. j ARREST OF ALLEGED BURGLARS. Auckland, Sept- 15. James Davern and John M'Lelland, two men alleged to be implicated in some of the numerous burglaries, were arrested by the police in a boardinghouse in Wcllesley Street on Sunday morning. Both were asleep, and were handcuffed before they could offer resistance. The police found a loaded revolver under Daven's pillow and several plugs of gelignite under his bed, while a loaded revolver was on the pillow alongside M'Lelland's head, and more gelignite under Midland's mattress. A third arrest made last night was that of a young man, Charles M'Cormack, who is believed to be implicated in breaking and 'entering premises in Queen Street. He was arrested near his home in Grey Lynn. ACCUSED REMANDED. Auckland, Last Night. Three burglaries occurred on Saturday night—at Oldbury's gunsmith shop, Queen Street, where si* revolvers and ammunition valued at £ I'2 were stolen; at the Government Oyster Depot, where the cast-iron safe was wrecked by an explosive, and the cash contents (455) stolen; and ut New Lynn post office, where, the safe was blown open by gelignite, and the contents ( £SO 19s in postal notes and £22 in cash) stolen. A fourth suspeet, Patrick Gumi, aged 22, was arrested early this morning, on a charge of being concerned in the New Lynn burglary. 'James Davern (20) and Edward James McLelland (21) came before Mr, Cullen, S.M., to-day, on charges of having broken and entered W. E. Hutchison's, N.Z. Bacon Co.'s, and Electrical Construction Company's premises. They were remanded for eight days. Charles MeCormack, 18, was charged with breaking and entering Oldbury's shop on Saturday, and MeCormack and Gunu were charged with breaking and entering the New Lynn post office. They also were remanded till Tuesday next week, bail being refused.
