At Tikorangi, on tho same day, for Mr. J. Hino, Junr., clearing sale, the attendance and competition were flrst-class. The full herd and heifers averaged over £l3 10s. The six-year registered Shorthorn bull made £35. At Stratford, on Tuesday, 10th, there was keen competition for all classes. Yearling steers sold up to £5 19s; yearling heifers £4 12s Cd to £5 15s for best, other medium sorts £2 18s Cd to £3 lis; empty 2-year heifers £5 ISs 6d to £6 15s. The two-year steers were of second grade, and were not enquired for. Backward two-year heifers in calf, £6 15s; forward cows £9 Cs to £lO 12s; good store cows £8 2s to £8 18s; store cows £5 18s to | £7 6s; small stores £3 18s to £5 12s. In the dairy yards any springers showing quality and close up met with keen compel'tlon. Good cows £l6 to £2O; others £9 10s to £l4; heifers from £6 5s to £l3. The 70 head sold averaged £ll 14s. At Inglewood, on Wednesday,. 11th instant, there was a full yarding of cattle and a small entry of sheep. All store cattle sold well. Heifers and cows met with spirited competition, but backward and poor-condttloned sorts were hard to sell. Christchurch, Saptcmhcr 11. At Addlngton market fat stock supplies were small, especially of fat cattle, buut there wero fair entries of all classes of stores. Beef was firmer, and was dearer than at any previous period this year. In some cases going over 60s per 1001b. Pat sheep opened firm, but prices weakened to below last week's level. Store sheep were In good demand, as were tho better classes of store cattle. Pat pigs sold well, and stores were easier. Pat Sheep.—Extra prime wethers, to 635; prime wethers, 42s 6d to 495; medium wethers, 38s to 425; lighter wethers, 30s to 373 Cd; merino wethers, 30s 6d to 35s Kid; prime ewes, JOs to 40s 3d; medium ewes, 34s to 39s Gd; lighter ewes, 26s to 33s 6d; hoggets, 28s 3d to 38s 9d. Pigs.—Choppers, £5 to £l3; baconers, £5 to £8 (equal to 9%d to 9»ld per lb); porkers, £2 15s to £4 15s (equal to 10% d per lb); large stores, 50s to 575; medium, 34s to 425; smaller, 23s to 335; weaners, 12s Gd to 28s. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. Dunedln, September 11. At Burnside 144 cattle were yarded. The quality was only moderate. At tho commencement of the sale prices advanced 15s to 20s per head, and towards the finish a further advance was recorded. Prime bullocks, £2l 10s to £24 103, extra, £27; medium, £lB 10s to £2O 10s: light, £l4 10s to £l6 10s; prime cows and heifers, £ls 10s to £l7; extra, £l9; medium, £l3 10s to £l4 15s; light, £ll 10s to £l2 10s. The number of iiheep penned was 1849. Tho quality on tho whole was good. Owing to the small yarding competition was exceedingly keen, and prices advanced 2s p'er head. Prime wethers, 48s 6d to 535; extra, 61s 6d; medium to good. 42s 6d to 455; light, 30s Cd to 395. There were 72 fat pigs yarded, and a medium entry of stores. Competition for fats was scarcely as good 03 last week, but a good salo was effected at slightly reduced rates. Stores sold fairly well at slightly higher prices.
