OPUNAKE DAIRY COMPANY.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Opunake Co-operative Dairy Company was held on Saturday, Mr. Morto Hickey (chairman of directors) presiding. The annual report showed that milk received totalled 6,185,1041b5, from which 205,6731bs of butter had been made, giving the result of lib of butter to 231bs of milk. The supply of milk had decreased by about 1,900,0001bs as compared with the previous season. The average test was 3.62 and the over-run 19.721). The factory stood fourth on the list of 22 factories at the Moturoa grading store, with an average grade of 92.33. The balancesheet shows a surplus of £2209 7s Od. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman traversed the main items of expenditure, and referred to the decreased supply, cnused by the shortage, of labor, and the fact that several suppliers had gone to the front. He mentioned that a casein plant had been installed at the factory, and at the Ihaia Road creamery, and it is anticipated that a start will be made on the manufacture of this commodity about the end of October.

The adoption of the report and bal-ance-sheet was seconded by Mr. L. Luckin, and carried. In dealing with the surplus, it was resolved that a payment of J per cent, be made on subscribed capital, absorbing £2O 8s lOd, that £SOO be written off for depreciation, and that the ibalance of £1748 18s Bd, together with tlie amount which will be forthcoming from the Imperial Government, be paid out pro rata on the season's workings.

The election of directors resulted: Kini Road creamery, L. Luckinj Ihaia Road creamery, J. I)e Castro, and Morto Hickey, W. Wan, E. G. Bayliss, J. Humphries, and F. W. Rowland. Mr. H, J. Newman was reappointed auditor.

The chairman's honorarium was fixed at £35.

At a subsequent meeting of directors Mt. Morto Hickey was re-elected chairman.—Star.
