In the closely guarded State and War Departments in Washington the German spy clever insinuated himself, securing valuable information of troop and warship movements, alt of which quickly found its way to Berlin by secret wireless stations and other mysterious communicative means, liven quite recently the Federal authorities discovered evi- ■ deuce to prove that German spies have been working among the I.W.W. members to stir up strife and strikes all over the country. The New York World exposed tlie plots of Dr. Alfred, who with other prominent German propagandists planned to foment strikes, control munition factories, buy up American newspapers, corner the supply of liquid chlorine, control the Wright aeroplane factory and destroy the Panama Canal. Captain von Papcn and Captain Boy-Ed were the head and heels of the nest of German spies. At that time it was estimated by Government officials that nearly two and a half million enemy aliens were resident in America. All these intimate facts George Bronson Howard knows. And because of his connection at one time with the Government at Washington, and because of his knowledge of the German secret police systems in Berlin and Potsdam, lie is eminently qualified to write. He has put all his information into "The Spy System," and Mr. Fox lias produced it. "The Spy System" will undoubtedly prove to be the greatest, American war drama. This remarkable picture commences a two-night season 'at Everybody's (tomorrow. CAPPEILLI. A return visit to New Plymouth by Signor Cuppelli and his gifted concert party is a compliment paid to few places in the Dominion by so rare an artist, and the public of this district are extremely fortunate in having a further opportunity of hearing this" singer of world-wide repute. But so enthusiastic was the reception given when the Cappelli party appeared here recently, that the management immediately decided on a second visit. The only change in the personnel of the party is that "kiss McCalluni, a gifted soprano, lias taken the place of Miss Veronica Bedford. Critics the world over are agreed that Cappelli is an artist of exceptional talent: that he possesses a voice of such pure tenor quality and of remarkable range. Australian critics have' said that no finer tenor has ever been heard in the Southern Hemisphere. His repertoire is an extensive one, and covers the whole field of grand opera. Supporting the great tenor there are also Signor Cesaroni basso, and John Amadio, the eminent flautist, each of whom is an accomplished concert performer of the highest ability. Mr Harold Whittle ig the accompanist of the part.
