THE MAILS.
To the Editoi Sir,—On behalf of a number of peo|plo, I am writing to ask if you could prevail upon the local post' office to publish the dale of closing the parcel mail for the Expeditionary Forces a few days sooner than they do. In ordinary eases one posts a parcel and trusts to its getting away sooner or later, but occasionally, the goods posted, although properly sealed, etc., require to be delayed as little as possible in transit, lienee arc packed only when notice appears. The earlier notification would be a boon to those having to prepnre a number of parcels and would, I am quite sure, be a relief to the officials at the office who are often rushed during the last hour or so. The dates of the closing of parcel mails are given some days sooner in the Wellington papers so there can be no restrictions against publishing the news here.—l am. etc., C. C. [Tile chief postmaster informs us that tho mails are announced immediately word is received from Wellington.—Ed.l
