(From Our Own Corespondent.) Elthara, Sept. ti. There was a good attendance ot the public at the Mangatoki hall on Wednesday evening to farewell Private Norman Swindlehurst. one of three sons of a popular family who have proceeded to the front. During the evening the soldier was presented with a wristiet watch, pocket knife, and text book by Mr. Curteis, chairman of the Patriotic Committee. The speaker referred to the two other sons who had gone to the front, stating that Fred had been reported missing at Gallipoli, and Leslie, after goins through some strenuous fighting in France, was now a sergeant-major in an instruction camp in Britain. W.mg Swindlehurst suitably acknowledged the gifts and Mr. Curteis' remarks. Music for the dance was supplied by Mrs. Cook and Miss Harcotirt (Mauaia), and extras by Mrs. (.Ward and Misses Cfttely, I'errv, Swindlehurst, Cooper, and Melville! Mr. Tom Gardener was M.C. Mr. A. Crooke. S.M., presided at a sitting of (he court here on Wednesday, when ""a number of debt cases were decided in favor of plaintiffs. A girl of IS years, M. Brew, was charged with the theft of a ring, valued £l, the property of Mrs. MeNab. After hearing the evidence. Mr. Crooke entered a conviction and ordered defendant to come up for sentence if called upon within six months.,
