BUTTER AND CHEESE PRICES.
MORE TALK—NO ACTION, | By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. fi. The Acting-Premier, with the lions. Mad Donald and Guthrie, yesterday had a conference with the representatives of cheese and butter interests. The delegates, asked that the Home representatives of the butter and cheese produers should be recognised, in regard to the negotiations for the purchase of New Zealand cheese and butter by the Imperial authorities. They also asked what was the reason for the delay in settling the price of butter, and pointed out 'that if the matter was not soon settled there might be a difficulty in financing the industry, owing to the large quantity | of 'butter in store in New Zealand, and upon which, ponding a settlement, no. advance could be secured. The Acting-Premier replied that Mr. Massey had consulted Mr. Ellison re-, garding the negotiations, and .instructed the High Commissioner to introduce him to the British Food Controller. This had been done. Sir James Allen said he hoped the price would soon be settled, so that the financial difficulty would not arise, but if it did arise, the Government, realising the magnitude of , the industry, would give every consideration to- tlie problem,
