To-day was a red-letter day for the Pembroke Road farmers, when the new cheese factory built there was officially declared open by Air. C. A. Wilkinson. M.P. for Eg-mont. Other speakers were Messrs R. Masters (chairman of the Education Board), E. Walter (County Council), J. B. Richards (Chamber of Commerce), J. Murray (Nathan and Co.), and J. Richards (Cardiff Dairy Co.). A very fine luncheon was provided by the ladies, and the ceremony passed off most successfully. An enjoyable social was held in the evening. A "hard-up" social was held in Ngaere Hall last evening. Visitors were present from Stratford and Eltham and took a big interest in the proceedings. Mr. J. Scoon (Eltham) was appointed judge of the costumes, and had no light task in coming to a decision, some of the efforts of the contesting parties being decidedly unique and appropriate. His awards went to Miss Cartwvight (Eltham) as "Sackcloth," and Mr. J. Oliver (Ngaere) os a "Swagger." The trophies were in keeping with the spirit of the dance, the lady being rewarded with a scrubbing brush and the Ngaere gentleman with a pair of so.v. To further augment the Copper Trail a mock court was held, | Mr. W. Morrison being judge and Messrs J. Thomas, A. Scott, G. Kofoed, and P. ISurkett prosecutors and ushers. The j fines, which were in keeping with appear-1 Linces, totalled 235. IMiss E. Reed and A. Algar won the waltzing competition. Two little girls, Florrie Walker and Dorothy Nelson, made 15s (id by selling button-holes. The following assisted in !he vocal items: Mr. P. Aitkens, Mr. T. Wilson, and Miss Ivy Nelson. Excellent music was provided by Mrs. Biauchi (piano) and S. Parker (cornet). Messrs Kofoed, Burkelt, and A.
