LOAN DEFEAT.

To the Editor. Sir.—Who is to 'blame for the loan defeat? I should say the borough officials. I called in at the polling booth in Devon Street west, and asked for inv paper, when I was informed that my name was crossed off as not being a ratepayer. Fancy, I only just paid £8 for my yearly rate and been voting the last four years in New Plymouth, never missed voting this last 25 years! I know, of course, my vote would not alter the poll, but I wonder if there are 14 more like myself who would liave carried the loan?—I am, etc., A. J. MIM/MAX.
