OMATA. I <%J. (From Our Own Correspondent.)' The entertainment given by the Okato Choral Society at Omata on Friday last was an unqualified success, and it is long since the residents of Omata enjoyed stieh a musical treat. All the items were much appreciated, the singing of Madame Choules especially drawing forth, enthusiastic applause* The Omata Guild, for whose benefit the eoncert was held, have reason to feel grateful to Mr. Pearson for organising the entertainment on their behalf, as well as to all the performers for their kindness in coming so far to help a good cause. The criiild regret that many more Omata folic did not, avail themselves of the opportunity of assisting to provide for Christmas parcels for their own boys and at the same time enjov a delightful musical evening. During the performance, Captain Allen gave some of his fine recitations, but, contrary to the usual custom, did not mn'-e an annual for funds from the audience. This was in deference to the wish of the guild, as the nnbliehave been so larsrely canvassed of late bv the many Tied Cross nnd patriotic ormni°afions that, those who are. srenernna are besinnin? to feel the strain. On Friday eveninc last a long nisiht dance was held at. Whareroa as a windup to the children's dinieins; class which ba-i been held ihroupbout the winter. There was a very lanre gathering, and one and nil spent, a thoroughly oniovable evening. The dancing 'of 'the children reflected great credit on their teachers, who had spent much time in training them. The music was supplied by Mrs Benton, while extras were played by Mrs Walker and Messrs Muiohy and MaePherson. As usual, Mr. B, Bloor proved a first-class M.P.
