AWAKINO. AWAKINO DAIRY COMPANY. (From Our Own Corresriondent.) The seventh annual meeting was held in the Awakino Hall on August 10th, Mr U R. Jones, chairman, presiding over a good attendance of shareholders. The annual report stated: This season's cheese- was purchased by the Imperial Government at lOd per lb f.0.h.. and owing to shortage of shipping 293 crates of this season's cheese is still in the freezing works. After writing olf several amounts on buildings and plant, the balance at credit of appropriation account is £O4B 16s 6d and a 'further payment of 3d to suppliers on their past season's supply will bring the total payment for butter-fat to Is 7d per lb. The services of the manager, Mr 0. Scott, have been retained for the coming season. The following statistics are attached to the report: Pounds of milk received 810,825, pounds of butter-fat 30,522, cheese made 71,328. Pounds milk per lb cheese 11.45, pounds cheese per lbs but-ter-fat 2.34. Cost of manufacture 1.53 d. The chairman in moving the adoption of the report, said that the past year had been the most successful in tlffe history of the company. The retiring directors Messrs A. H. Condon, W. 1). Thomson were re-elected unopposed, and Mr B. Condon in place of Mr 'J. N. Bryant. Mr Hugh Baily was re-appointed auditor. The chairman was voted an honorarium of £7 7s and the secretary a bonus of £5 us. ' The directors were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr L. R. Jones was re-elected chairman. Although the chairman said'the past year had been the most successful in the. history of the company, there is every prospect of next year being more successful as with an increase of suppliers, and land close to the factory changing hands at £3O per acre gives one the impression that business is meant.
