Coutts', we held a clearing sale of his live and dead stock. There was a good attendance, and a most successful sale was held. The dairy cows sold at from £lO to £22 10s, heifers £0 10s to £l4, yearlings £2 10s to £5 7s, horses to £29, pigs £3 Is. On Friday and Saturday, August 23 and 24, we held our spring horse fair. We quote: Unbroken heavy draught horses £2O to £3O, medium, draught horses £l2 to £l9, light horses £2 10s to £l2, broken draughts £lB to £34 10s, milk carters £ls to £2B, light harness horses £S to £l2, hacks £3 10s to £ll, ponies £5 to £lO, weeds 20s upwards. Fat cows £ll to £l3, stores £9 12s to £lO 3s, lighter cows £7 to £8 ss, 2i-year steers £lO 12s fid, empty heifers £5 to £5 18s, yearling heifers £2 10s to £4 3s, dairy cows £ll to £l2 10s, heifers £lO 17s (id to £ll 10s. At Manaia on Tuesday, August 27, we had a small yarding, which sold at late rates. At Ngaere on Thursday, August 2D, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr James Beedie, sen., when there was a large attendance, resulting in a very successful sale. Dairy cows £ll to £ls. heifers £l2 to £l4 7s Cd, backward cows and heifers £8 to £lO ss; favm implements and sundries realised good prices. We held our usual fortnightly sale of hides, tallow, and oddments on the 3fl't!i hist. Prices were somewhat easier U heavy hides but the. extremely high rates ruling for calfskins were, well maintained. Tallow showed a, decline of about 2s per cwt.
