THE JULY OPERATIONS. Wellington, Sept. 2. A special message from tho New Zealand correspondent at Cairo gives the following report of the operations during July, I'.US: duly I.—The Auckland Mounted Rifles relieved the Wellington Mounted Rifles, occupying a short sector in the Jordan Valley; patrolling and wiring in front of defences; daily in touch with enemy patrols: working parties from the brigade constantly employing in draining stagnant water and taking other measures against mosquitoes. July'2-3.—Enemy shelled bivouac area, but casualties were very light. July 14.—Enemy heavily shelled sector and attacked from Abu Tclliil and Tel Errishc before daylight. The attack was pressed against the Light Horse Brigade on the right of the New Zealand Brigade. Eight enemy aeroplanes assisted in the attack. The Wellington Mounted Rifles pushed forward to attack the enemy flank, and drove it in and captured 01 prisoners. The Canterbury Mounted Rifles cleared the country for a mile to the westward, under heavy shell-fire. The enemy was driven off with heavy losses, losing 400 prisoners. The brigade withdrew to" 5 bivouac in the evening and continued the previous routine. July lit—The brigade moved to a camp'in the back area, and on July 27 went out of the valley to a rest camp.
