A FARMER'S SUICIDE. . -Martini, September 2. ' A farmer named Frank Poppe, aged 94. cut his throat on Saturday afternoon. He leaves a widow and four children. At the inquest yeseterday, the verdict was suicide, due to mental depression through alcoholic indulgence. A DEAD BODY FOUNU. Auckland, September 2. The dead body of Philip A. E- Sydney, aged ID, lias been found in Manakau Harbor. He 'is believed to have, been a farm laborer, and has been missing sines August 2£. A GIRL KILLED. Christchurch, September 2. { Rita Robson, aged 17, was knockeo. down on Saturday by a horse and gig driven by William 0. M'Kenna, stock agent, and was taken to hospital. She died yesterday.CTOLING CASUALTIES. Timaru, September t. James Marshall, aged 18 years, whose mother resides at Claremont, was killed on Saturday night. While cycling into Timaru, he collided with a trap, the shaft of which struok him in the chest. He •lied immediately. Charles Brebaut, while riding a motorcycle, collided with a motor-car, and had a lc-g broken. CAUGHT IN BELTING. Westport, September 2, ' An apprentice named Charles Levy became entangled in the belting in Riley's foundry, and had a miraculous escape from death.
