Mr. A. Morton wag on Saturday re. elected chairman of directors of toe Tftranaki Producers' Freezing Works Company, Ltd. Mr. Charles Hebeek, formerly of Mas. terton, died at the Buchanan Home ia Greytown last week, at the great age of 105 years. An Oamaru press message reports the disath of George A. Travis, clerk of the Waitaki County Council, and the winner of the Otago golf championship in 1914. Mr. H. H. Skelton, who has been in charge of the engineering classes at the New Plymouth Technical College for some time past and who leaves for camp with the next draft of reinforcements, was the recipient of two presentations this week. The staff of the Technical College presented him with a leather pocket wallet and a gold-mounted fountain pen, whilst the %oys attending the engineering classes presented him with ahandsome case of pipes.
Mr. Jas. Burgess, of Warea, who has been actively associated with the dairying industry in Taranaki for very many years, has disposed of his farm, and is severing his connection with the various institutions of which he has' been s director. On his resigning from the directorale of the Taranaki Producers' Freezing Works, the chairman (Mr. A. Morton) referred to Mr. Burgess 1 lengthy association with the directorate, and expressed the hope that he would long enjoy his well-earned rest. It was resolved to record on the minutes a vote of appreciation of Mr. Burgess' valuable services. Mr. M. Fleming (Cape Egmont) has been appointed to fill the vacancy.
Mr. S, Preston Kidd, of Westown, formerly of Inglewood, received advice on Thursday that his son (Private A. Kidd), who - had returned by the Moeraki on Tuesday, invalided, had died in the Wellington hospital, whereto he had been removed direct from the ship. Dewho was attached to the Mounted Kifles in Egypt, will be accorded a milltary funeral in New Plymouth on WedMr. Kidd's family has a 'great record in connection with this war. Two other bods have already made the supreme sacrifice, while another is at present on active service in Palestine.
