Mr. Stanley's room was all too small for the annual meeting of the Model Dairy Farm held this afternoon, there heing over 40 present. Mr. Deem (chairman of the executive) presided, and explained in detail the work carried out during the year. Messrs. E. Jackson, R. Masters, .T. B. Richards, A. \V. Budge, S. Pitt and others spoke in congratulatory manner 011 the ■d'ork done on the farm, and also on the thoroughness of the committee, after which the report and balance-sheet was adopted. The following new members were elected: W. D. Colson, R. G. Harkness, M. McDonald, T. McDonald, L. I'. Rogers, C. R. Finnerty, T. Waite, J. Thomas and W. 11. Paynter. Messrs. Dingle and Boon (guarantor's) and Ranford and Pitt (members' representatives) retired by effluxion of time. Messrs. Boon and Ran ford did not seek re-election, and the following appointments were made: R. Dingle and S. Pitt (guarantors), R. Masters and W. Wickham (members' representatives). ■ The chairman then delivered a lengthy address on root crops, which elicited a fair amount of discussion, at the close of which a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Deem.
A similar compliment to Mr. Stanley for the use of the rooms concluded a very interesting meeting. TUNA SOCIAL. A social in aid of the Christmas Comforts Fund was held at Tuna 011 Friday evening, and it is expected the sum of £2O will bg realised. Mr. W. Hathaway presided, and in a short address mentioned that it was up to all those who could not take on active service to do their utmost in other directions. Tuna had not been backward in the past, and he trusted :>'l would do their best to keep up the line record. Songs were contributed by Mrs. Hatcher, Misses Martin and Fever, and a pianoforte solo by Miss Anderson. Mr. Fred Foley also assisted with some conjuring feats. Miss Anderson supplied the dance mu3ic, extras being contributed by Miss Kovaleski and Mr. F. Noreross. Mr. J. Wright was M.C. GENERAL. The civil action brought by T. Waite (Mr. Johnstone) against Masters, Ltd., J. W. Boon and Fawcett, for damages in connection with plaintiff's car collide ing with timber on a dray outside the building in Broadway, was continued. Evidence during, the afternoon was tendered by Waite, C. H. Bridger, Dr. Paget, Milne, Fawcett and R. Masters. At 0.30 o'clock the court lights became useless, and it was resolved that counsel forward their addresses to Mr. Crooke at New Plymouth. Defendant was ordered to pay same before September 3, in default ! six days' imprisonment. The following soldiers comprise the district draft for the 46th Reinforcements: C. E. Bocock, T. E." Abraham is endeavoring to finance the purchase of an Esego selfpropelling chair, at a cost of £3O, for a hospital patient —J. Gavigan who, through an accident, is unable to leave his bed. An order has sent Home for the chair, which is largely used in military hospitals. Subscriptions from sympathetically inclined will be gratefully acknowledged by Mrs. Abraham.
