RACING FIXTURES. Sept. 4—Marton J.C. Spring. Sept. 11—Dannevirke E.G. Spring. Sept. 19—Egniorit R.C. Spring. Sept. 19, 20—Asliburton R.O. Spring. Sept. 23—Otaki R.C. Spring. TURF TOPICS. (By "Aloturoa.") Marton races on Wednesday. Dannevirke weights are. due to-day. Hyginas should strip very lit at MarIton. Finmark lias been sent across to contest the A.J.C. Derby. Oratress is galloping well at For dell, and should come to hand early. Croesus is in work again at Hastings, and looks robust and well after his spell. Despite all rumors to the contrary, Lady Louisa is reported to be a certain starter at Marton. They have been schooling Zola over the sticks recently, and the big brown gelding jumps like a veteran at the game. The Lowrv team for Sydney comprised Desert Gold, Estland. Finmark, Kilhope and Killowen. J. O'Shea accompanied them. By the same boat J. Cameron took over Impediment, St. Elmn, and Lingerie. Maorilanders should shake things lip at Randwiek in October! Gladful is a racehorse amongst a crowd of hacks at Marten, and many good judges consider he will be home in time to get afternoon tea ready for the others. Those who were anxious to see the outcome of the much-discussed Sanacre 1.0. U. ease were doomed to disappointment, the squabble being settled out of court. j All Over landed punters "in the net" j at the National meeting, and now they 1 are left to guess whether the All Red geldin? will start in the Marton Handicap or the sprint event on Wednesday. Mr. J. Bull might let us into his confidence. 80-peep was saddled up on nine occasions last seaion, and her record reads, two firsts, two seconds, and two thirds. Carrying Sst. she won the Juvenile Handicap at the Masterton Spring meet- ! ing in brilliant fashion, running the four furlongs in f>2J. After running third to Informal and Finmark in the Wellesley Stakes, and Pontoon and Informal in the Juvenile Handicap, both at Trentliam, she carried off the Welcome Stakes at Ricearton. beating Pontoon, Finmark, and Demagogue in hollow fashion in 48sec. After a couple of unplaced performances she ran Ilymestra to a length in the Royal Stakes at Ellerslie. That, day 80-Peep carried 01b over weight-for-age, and beat such horses as Finmark, Pontoon, and Demagogue, the time for the six furlongs being linin. 13 3-ssec. She was next seen under silk in the Wellington Stakes, but was ufa lucky in running, and finished outside a place. Three days later she was pulled out to contest the Kelburn plate, and, after a sterling race, split Croesus and Desert Gold at the finish, the four furlong trip occupying 47 2-sscc. BoPeep races in the nomination of Mr. W. E. Herbert, and will be ridden by H. Gray at Marton next week.

Another promising three-year-old that is billed to sport silk fit Marton is the Demosthenes—Jeanne D'Arc colt Demos. Last season he was started on seven occasions, and was only out of a place once. His record reads: Unplaced, Feilding Stakes, 5 furlongs, won by Lingerie; won the Marton Juvenile Handicap, 5 furlongs, with 6.13$ up, Coolpan (5.5) second, Torfreda (7.11) third; second in Wellington Stakes, 5 furlongs, carrying 8.9, won by Finniark (6.12); won the Fitzherbert Handicap, u furlong", with 8.6, War March (0.12) second, Heathercote (7.10) third; second in the Egmont Stakes, 6 furlongs, with 7.0, won by Finmark (7.7); second in Wairarapa Nursery Handicap, 4 furlongs, with 9.2, to Torfreda (!).3); third in Wairarapa Juvenile Handicap, .5 furlongs, with 9.3, to Damien (7.5) and Oratress (7.0). Demos finished up all his races in the gamest possible fashion, and he is reported to be well forward for spring racing. Amongst the newchums likely to be seen out in the Trial Plate at Marton is a full sister to Sasanof, named Moutoa Ivanova, which is a senseless MaoriRusso name, to say the least of it. Moutoa Ivanova was originally named Myra Ivanova, but Mr. F. S. Easton has the "Moutoa" business worked to death. The filly is trained by Fred Tilley, and is reported to be speedy. However, a Trial j Plate at Marton is hardly the race to I test an expensive three-year-old (what she cost would keep you and me in cigars for a lifetime!). The nominations for the various events to be decided at the Egmont spring meeting are first-class, particularly In the hack and hunters' events. The Mcßae Memorial Handicap has drawn a small bub select field, showing that very few of our distance horses are at present ready for seVious racing. The Tawhiti Handicap has attracted a "rod field, and promises to be an interesting race. The Hunt Cup has filled well, 21 being carded, while the other hunters' events have drawn 1(1 and 2!). As expected, the hack races filled to overflowing, 30 being entered for the Waihi Handicap, and 44 for the Telegraph Handicap. Mr. H. Covle's weights are due on September 12.

Mr. G, L. Stead is to give Almoner a chance io distinguish himself in the A..J.C. Derby. Tile colt is 110 stronger to, 'Stralian racecourses, having won the Breeders' Plato at Randwick and tl)»' Flemington Stakes at Melbourne. .Almoner is reported to have wintered well, and should give a good account of himself across the Tasman. 11. Goldfinch will ride Kauri Kin;.; and Ncwlant at Marton, and A. J. McFlynn will be ou War March and Gatherer.. Bimeter has come into the market for the Epsom Handicap, though he was considered more at home over six furlongs than a mile in Now Zealand. Latest Sydney files show that the most favored ones for the spring handicaps are as follow:—Epsom Handicap: Volpi, George Graves, Poitrina, Bala rang, Panacro and Kilhope. Metropolitan Handicap: Keimaquhair, Thana, Lingle, Court Jester, and Estland. . Caulfield Cup: Biplane, Ethiopian, Eedfern, and Desert Gold. Melbourne Cup: Desert .Gold, Thana, Poitrel, Lingle, Court Jester, Ardt Marella, and Finmark. Collector will accompany Almoner to Sydney, and R. McSeveney will probably go across to ride him. Gang Awa' has been returned* to his owner at Foxton, and Master Strowan and the small-stick "frost" will he indulged in a spell. Master Strowan was to have been sent across to Sydney, but business arrangements prevented Mr. P. Easton from going across to see the horse run, so the trip was cancelled.
