THE HORVAT FIASCO. ACTION OF ALT.rEM, New York, Aug. 20. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times states that official advices from Vladivostock state that Horvat's coup d'etat, reported on the 26th, failed. The Allies' representatives at Vladivostock have divested Horvat of his self-assumed authority.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. Received Aug. 30, 5.30 p.m. New York, Aug, 29. The New York Times' Washington correspondent says the Allied representatives at Vladivostock told General Horvat that the Siberian Government's authority would be sustained. General Horvat is a Monarchist, anti-German, and anti-Bolshevik. He appointed a temporary Cabinet for Siberia and declared that the Government's programme would include the renewal of all treaties with the Allied Powers, declaring his intention "to act in complete accord with our brave allies." Lieut-General Pleshkoff, Horvat's aide, attempted to assume control of all the BOLSHEVIKS DRIVEN BACK. SEMENOFF RESUMES OFFENSIVE. Vladivostock, Aug. 2fl. A strong Japanese force arrived on tlie Ussuri front, and soon afterwards the Allies advanced six miles and captured considerable booty and some prisoners Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. Received Aug. 30, 5.5 p.m. New York, Aug. 29. The New York Times' Pekin correspondent states that General Semenoff 'has resumed the offensive, and, with Caeeh reinforcements, drove the Bolsheviks from Natsifoski station, west of Menchuli. Many Bolsheviks were prisonered. The correspondent adds that many Japanese are fighting at Dauris. The Chinese are not opposing the presence of Japanese in Manchuria.—Press Assoc. ** CZECHOSLOVAKS GRATEFUL. New York, Aug. 28. The Czechoslovaks, who are fighting on the Volga, cabled to Professor Masaryk their high appreciation of the British recognition of the nation and the aid rendered them by the expedition to Russia.—Aus.
