SCHOOL COMPETITIONS.
COXCDUDTiCG NIGHT, _ The teats in connection with the school musical and elocutionary competitions were concluded at the Good Templar Hall last night, the attendance of tlia public being very disappointing. The judges in the music, were Messrs F. W. G. M'Leod and G. H. White, and in th? elocution tlie Rev, W. A. Sinclair, A. H. Johnstone, and F, W. G. M'Leod- Thoy had some difficulty in reaching their decisions in some of the classes, the competitors being very close to each other in the merit of the performances givenTheir awards, however, gave genera! satisfaction, and the announcement oi the results was greeted with applause. For the judges, the Rev. W. A. 'Sinclai; and Mr. M'Leod gave some helpful criticism of the work of the contestants and also some hints to the- committea for future competitions. Following are tha results gi last night's work:— Recitations. —Over 13: May Darling (We<t End) 1, Maxwell Gray (Central) 2. Humorous, 0 to 11: Esina ißlanchard (West End) 1, Seton Richardson (Fitzrov) 2. 51 to 13: Betlv Welch (Wc3t End) 1, Delnia Eye West End) ?■ Reading.—Over 13: Maxwell Graf (Central) 1, Marjorie TSickev (Fitzroy) 2.
