DAIRY COMPANY MEETINGS.

CAPE EGMONT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The 21st annual general meeting of the Cape Egmont Dairy Factory was held on Wednesday in the public Hall, Pungarehu, when Mr M. Fleming presided over a representative gathering of shareholders. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet the chairman pointed out how very successful the factory had been during the year. It was second on the grading list, and not a single crate of second class cheese had been sent in. The pay-out was Is 9d, which might have been Is 9Jd, only for deductions was not only satisfactory, but was the record pay-out for the company, although he was somewhat disappointed at the steady decline in the milk supply since the war started owing to labor troubles and high prices for manures, and trusted it would soon be on the upgrade again. The motion was seconded by Mr E. Taylor and carried. Mr George Rogers was appointed i auditor. A very cordial vote of thanks was given to Mr James Rutherford, who retires after being a director since the company started. For the three vacancies on the directorate Messrs M. Fleming and W. R. Wright, retiring directors, wert nominated, as were also Messrs Ayhvard C. Penwarden and E. Taylor, a poll resulting in the first three mentioned being declared elected. It was decided to pay a bonus of 7-J per cent, on all goods (not net) purchased at the store. In proposing a vote of thanks to the staff, the chairman emphasised the great difficulties under which they labored, through shortage of material and cariage, and Mr W. R. Wright, in seconding the same, said that the grading of their cheese was only .05 behind the winner, but it was much more meritorious than was generally known, because Eltham had its own cool store, where the cheese was graded daily, while Cape Egmont cheese was stewing in "hot" store in New Plymouth for several months in a 70 degrees temperature. Mr W. T. Guild having replied, the meeting terminated to allow of the very enjoyable business of paying out big bonus cheques being gone on with.
