The Tariki Patriotic Society lias received a further letter from Sir James Allen, concerning the alien question, in which it is stated "that part I of the War Regulations Act, 1017, makes it an otf'enee for an 'alien enemy' to acquire lanl in New Zealand, and provides machinery for the forfeiture to the Crown of land acquired by alien enemies. It is pivi'AM'd to extend this legislation so a3 to prohibit the acquisition of land in New Zealand by persons of enemy origin who are not 'enemy aliens' within the strict meaning of that term. This legislation, when passed, will meet the cases to which referenoe has been made by the Tariki Society."
