RESTORATION OF RUSSIA. /■ • DEPENDS ON ALLIES MILITARY AID. AN OPTIMISTIC COKRESPON©ENT. New York\ August 27. In an interview with Mr Shaplen, formerly United.Press correspondent at Petrograd, the interviewer asked: "What will he the future of Russia?" Mr Sh&plen replied: 'ln my opinion Russia will reorganise the east front next summer, meanwhile the revolutionary cemocratic party is preparing to take up the power of the Government and is Iqir-tly recognising the economic resources. Germany will supply the Bolsheviks' requirements as long as they are able to use them to keep Russia, disorganised and disunited. The restortion of Russia will be hastened in proportion to the speed with which the Allies send military aid to strengthen ths hands of the opponents of the Bolsheviks. "The two names mentioned as the ■possible leaders of the new party which w=ll out the Bolsheviks are Victor Tchernoff, leader of the Socialist. Revolutionaries, and Martoff. leader of the Meniheviki. The two leaders of the Russian Northern Republic, Zuboff and Dehishenko, are strong men, but Tchwnoff is the likeliest leader of the new National Party. "Russians will endeavor to re-estab-lish the line in Poland, with subsidiary fronts on the Mnrmait coast and Arclinngel. It is established that 000,000 Germans are ensuged in' maintaining order in Russia. "Reorganisation on the Ru=iian front will mean detaching a million more men from Germany's western front, thus ensuring an early victory for the Allies. "The reorganisation of a stable governmen,t in Russia is slowlv but surelv.com- 1 ,ina. T regard the future with optimism and complete* ~.cpnfidence."--Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
