WHICH?
Jer-aey the Shorthorn ? Now I could'nt resist the pun, In this controversy raging As to which cow's number one; For Wright says he is surely right, But Willie says Wright's wrong In this very bitter argument That's raging hot and strong. Now Willie says the Jersey Is the cow that's sure to please, As she's the mainspring factor Of our celebrated cheese; But Wright he says the Shorthorn Is the cow for all that, As milk is what is wanted, And not the blooming fat. Now, whether Willie's in the right To praise the Jersey breed, And say she's just the very cow j To help you in your need; Or 1 whether Wright is truly right To praise the Shorthorn cow; Well, neither side, that I can see, Has proved much up to now. They may write a weary letter To the paper everv day, And may call each'other blackguards In a gentlemanly way. Well, let 'em, then, take this advice — All you farmers understand — Whether Jersey cow or Shorthorn, Keep'.the cow-that suits the land. H.J.E. Koru, August 27,, 1918.
