INTERNMENT OF ALIENS.
A MONSTER PETITION. London, August 25. Several thousands attended a Hyde Park demonstration for the internment of all enemy aliens. Speeches were delivered from five platforms, and the de-1 monstrators proceeded in procession to j No. 10 Downing Street. On a lorry was a petition two and one-third miles in length, containing 1,250,000 signatures. It headed the procession, and four men carried tlio petition into the Prime Minister's residence. Ilis secretary 'received it, owing to Mr. Lloyd George being | away for a week-end in the country. The principal speakers at the Hyde Park demonstration were Lieut.-Colonel 11. Page Croft, M.P., Mr. Leo. Maxse and Mr. G. .1. Jenkins. The demonstrators passed a resolution expressing their dismay that Mr. Lloyd George was unable to receive the deputation and petition.—Aus and N.Z. Cable Assoc.
