AN INTERRUPTED DRILL. POLICE FIRED ON. London, August 24. The police discovered a body of men drilling by moonlight in the vicinity of Stokestown, County Roscommon. When challenged, the drillers, who were carrying dummy rifles, scattered, but the instructor fired several revolver shots at the police, and the latter replied with carbines. Some of the police were injured. No arrest has been made.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc.
