A GERMAN CLAIM. Amsterdam, August 24. Berlin official messages state that light naval forces torpedoed three enemy torpedo craft off Dunkirk, and two were sunk. The German boats returned without casualty.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc. MISSED BY TWENTY YARDS. New York, August 22. ■* A British freighter in American waters escaped from a U-boat. A torpedo was fired at close range, but missed by twenty yards.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc. THE KONINGIN REGENTES INQUIRY London, August 25. The Hague reports the finding of the Dutch Shipping Council's inquiry into the sinking of the Koningin Regentes was that the loss was caused by a torpedo. The Dutch Government asks Germany to reopen a thorough inquiry, seeing that Germany does not recognise the immunity of hospital ships. Britain has assured Holland that no British torpedo was fired in the vicinity.—Reuter.
