What was considered one of the best socials held in Kaponjja for many years tool; place on Friday evening, to mark (lie opening of tin; .banners' Co-operative Society's branch there. A very varied 'mi .liijrlvjpxadc programme o£ vocal and other items was coulribulcd by performers from flavvera, FJtluuo, and Stratford. Encores were'numerous, a testimony to tile merits of the performers. Those assisting were:—Mrs. Wyett, .Misses Jenkins and Kelly, and Messrs Morris (the possessor of a line'baritone voice), Qormley, [looker, Kawlinsoii, Foster, Davis, Schoilev. and Foley, the latter with his card tricks, etc., affording a pleasing variety to the programme. Mr. T. Death. presided, and thanked those assisting for the very enjoyable evening. Mr. Tayloi-, general manager of the society, also expressed his pleasure at boiny present, and trusted tha wnnk of the company in Kapunga would bo to the heuefit of the town, the farmer;, and the firm- The floor was in Cue order for dancing, and aUo stepped merrily tbrouph the fleeting h.ours to the strains of M'Cartys orehesira. Whilst Kapoi'.frians wer>.> making the floor shake Ir> their feet, the Prose-by. terians here were cnjoy.'t.g a musical feast, items beina; contributed by Miss Hopkins, Mosdames Hollands and Dixon, and Messrs Frank and Tom Eanford and H. Le Petts. The attendance was not up to expectations, but those who did roll up spent a very pleasant two hours.
