The friends of Mr. John Jonw,, secretary to the New Plymouth Gas Company, will regret to learn of his death, from typhoid fever, at the New Plymouth hospital early yesterday morning. The late Mr. Jones was a Londoner, and a member of St. George's Bifles, one of the best known volunteer■ regiments in the metropolis.
