FOOTBALL.
THE INTER-COLLEGIATE MATCHES.
Considerable interest is being evinced throughout Taranaki in the triangular inter-collegiate football matches which commence in Xew Plymouth tomorrow. It is recognised that these matches will provide displays of that last, open, clean and spectacular football that so delight onlookers. In the secondary school competition at Auckland, the Auckland College and Grammar School team has put up a great record. On Saturday last it defeated Sacred Heart College m the final of the competition bv 2ii to 3. The team is to arrive by the Karawa this morning. -Nelson College lea in also enjoys a fine reputation, and will arrive here at ;5.40 p.m. to-morrow Tho local team has played some splendid matches this season, playing a. hard, fast and open game from start to finish.
To-morrow Grammar School (dark blue) will meet High School (black and white) on the recreation grounds at 3 p.m. On Monday the Grammar School will meet Xelson College (light, blue), and on Wednesday Kelson College will meet the local team.
HOVERS '73 DEFEAT .STRATFORD CADETS.
At £1 rat-ford, yesterday afternoon, Rovers il?, playing two men short, met and defeated Stratford Cadets bv " points to All the scoring was done in the first spell. For the winners. Siohr kicked a goal from the field and Hedford scored a. try. whilst Collins scored an unconverted try for .Stratford. Mr. Ivivcll was referee.
