ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) . I regret that my reference in a recent letter to tlie resignation of the County cleric (Mr Tristram) was so cut down as to leave u doubt as to my meaning. Those who knew Mr Tristram 'best are well aware that lie has faithfully done his work, and the only reason he resigned was because he thought some of the Councillors believed his private work was taking up too much of his time. The County is lfcsmg an efficient and painstaking official and one who haa deserved well of the ratepayers.
