FOOTBALL.
RULES TO BE FOLLOWED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 20. Miere was discussion at the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union on alleged departures from the rules, with particular reference to those followed in Auckland, where it was said an experiment had been made in connection witli the "imaginary line." A resolution was passed calling the attention of all unions to the fact that inter-union games must be played under Rugby Union rules as provided by Rule 2.
The Inglewood School has put up a splendid record this season in the primary schools competition. They have played five matches and won them all, defeating Central on Saturday by 34 to nil. For the winners tries were scored by 11. Brown (0), Fitzherbert (2) and Nicholls (2). H. Brown converted two. In tlio five matches Inglewood have scored 75 points to their opponents three. Of this score H. Brown has scored no less than 57 points. The team owes a good deal of its success to the coaching of the headmaster (Mr D. Evans), who is an old footballer himself.
