LEPPERTON DAIRY COMPANY.

ANNUAL REPORT. The twenty sixth annual repprfc of tho Lepperton Dairy Company shows that butter was made until 30th November, 1017, amounting to 43 tons 0 ewt 3qrs lOlbs. Cheese was made from Ist December, 1917 to 30th June, 1318, amounting to 113 tons 2 cwt. 1 qr. 11 lbs. The amount of whey butter made was 2 tons 4 ewt 1 qr. 8 lbs. At the date of balancing there were 1,400 c/s of cheese in cool store and 63 c/s in the factory, which have been taken at lOd on factory weights less estimated shrinkage and less estimated charges. Out of the ksurplus, £4,360 14s sd, a payment of £1451 10s lOd has already been msicfe to suppliers, bringing the total payments for the season up to 1/2 per lb rif butterfat. The directors proposed to pay another Id per lb, together with interest at 5 per cent on share capital subscribed to 30th June, 1917, and to pay another Id over the season on 20th September. Also to make further payments as the cheese in store gets away and the money comes, to hand. ■ The total payments should amount to about 1/5Jd for the season, in addition to any payment which may be received from the"lmperial Government out of the butter equalisation fund.

Mr W. Roberts resigned the position of manager as bn 28th February last, and Mr T, W. Taylor was appointed in his place. The sum of £SOO lias been set aside for the reduction of the overdraft; and Vi& per lb of butter-fat to provide a fund for payment of 20 more s'hares taken up in the Freezing Works Company last season. An additional 40 shares had now been applied for, as the works have to be again enlarged. Statistics: Buttermaking—Lbs of milk, 1,085,54; lbs of butter-fat, 00,247; lbs of cream, 40,925; lbs of butterfat, 15,743: lbs of butter, 96,420: average test (milk), 3.93; average test (cream), 38.4; lbs of butter to 1 lb of butter-fat, 1.175. Cheesemaking—Lbs | of milk, 2,423,134; lbs of butter-fat, 105,727; lbs of cheese, 253,383; average test, 4.3 C; lbs of milk to 1 lb cheese, 0.50; lbs of cheese to 1 lb butter-fat, 2.4 nearly. Totals—Lbs of milk, 4,108,488; ifis of cream, 40,925; 'lbs of butter-fat, 187,727; average test (milk), 4.18. The balance-sheet shows the revenue at £17,404, including butter sold .-£0792 19s Gd, cheese £8378 19s lOd, cheese in store £1915 3s 4d, whey butter sold £3Ol 7s Bd. On. the expenditure side were wages £Ol3 Is Sd, requisites £IOBS 09 lOd, repairs £3B Is sd, selling and administration £1515 13s lOd (including sinking fund £500), depreciation, £299 13s 2d. '£9479 19s 3d had been advanced to suppliers, and there was £4355 8s 2d surplus.
