THE AUSTRALIAN MISSION. Paris, August 19. M. Henri Bergson, the Qißtiuguisned philosopher, has been appointed to succeed M. Metin as member of the French Australian mission.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assoc.

San Francisco, August 19.

The French Government, believing the object of the Metin Mission to Australia too important to be dropped, lias decided to appoint a civilian as new head of the mission, which will remain here till October, pending his armai from France. M. Metin's body will be sent to France for burial. The United States is despatching a warship to convoy it across the Atlantic.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assoc.
