Julius Borth, a native of BoJfeinfia, _ was fined £2O by the Stipendiary Magistrate, Mr Wyvern Wilson, for a breadi of the war regulations covering work «n the wharves. Borth was naturalised |n Australia, but not in the Dominion, aAd therefore was deemed to be unnatnralised. After the regulations were gazetted he applied for a permit to work on tie wharf, but was refused. He was employed later by Horseley and Harris, merchants, as a carrier, and went to the wharf shed for goods. Counsel contended that the wharf shed did not come within tlie meaning of the War Regulations. This view was not taken by tlie magistrate, who imposed a conviction. Alfred Harris, a member of tho Ann, was charged with procuring Borth to* • work on the wharf, but the information was dismissed. .
