Elthani, August 17. The Overseas Club intend making an effort to increase tjeir membership, and tp-night several officials will address a meeting at Kaponga on the aims anr} objects of the club. Since its inception ii? Eltham, the club has been of great assistance in building up many patriotic functions, and its efforts on behalf of the Tobacco Fund have been much appreciated hy the sailors and soldiers ongaged in the great war. Next week the (dub intend holding a ball in aid of the Ladies' Guild Club.
Miingamiiigi is losing another oldtime settler in Mr. and Mrs. Berridge, who have lived in the valley for a good iH"i>y years, and, having sold out, are, like Mr. J. Espin, thinking of setting out for other fields. ,'
• A well-known who has been drawn in the ballot has disappeared. The resignation of the county clerk, Mr. W. J. Tristram, is causing some speculation here.
