A TRANSPORT ATTACKED. U-BOAT WARDED OFF. Received August 15, 7.20 p.m. Ottawa, August 14. A report from an Atlantic port states that a British transport fougnc oif a U-boat lor two hours. The transport's guns were unable to.reach the U-boat, but placed a barrage, preventing toe U-boat from approaching nearer. The U-boat's shells fell in the closest proximity to the transport. «
■ BE FRSNCH LINERS A I The Anstralien is a Hessageries Maritimes liner of C 365 tons, completed in 11904. The Djemnah, of the same line, is an old vessel of 3716 tons, built in 1575. COXVOYED SHIPS SUNK. Paris, August 14. The Djemnah wag sunk on July 14, and the Anstralien torpedoed on July lit She foundered after burning. Seventeen of the crew were killed and three missing; 948 were saved. Both tine Djenmah and Anstralien were convoyed. Another ship was torpedoed with the Anstralien,. but not sunk. —Ane-XZ. CaMe Assoc
