NEW PLYMOUTH. Subject t» necessary alterations, mails will close at the chief post office, New Plymouth, as under:
For Auckland and North, dally per train at 6.15 a.m.
For Auckland and north, per s.s. Rarawa. Wednesday and Saturday. 10 am For Napier and Gisborne, daily' at 6.15 a.m. For Wellington and South, daily at 6.15 a.m. For Wanganui and intermediate offices, daily at 6.15 a.m., 10.45 a.m. and 2.45 p.m. For Opunake and Intermediate offices, per motor bus, daily at 6.15 a.m. THURSDAY, AUGUST 15. For United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, United Stales of America, Central and South America, via Vancouver; also, Honolulu, Japan and Fiji (per s.s. Makura, from Auckland), at 6.15 a.m. For Australian States, South Africa, Ceylon, India, China, Japan and Straits Settlements (per s.s. Manuka, from Wellington), at 6.15 p.m.
Money orders, registered letters and parcels close one hour before tho ordinary mail. The public are earnestly requested to register all letters containing money or valuabl-s Intended to bo sent by post. That letter usually superscribed "Via Suez" should now be superscribed "For first direct steamer."
