PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Hew Plymouth Patriotic Committee was held on Tuesday night. The Mayor (Mr. C. H. Burgess) presided, mid 'there were also present: Messrs W. ,1. Chaney (deputy-chairman), ,r. Paton (treasurer), (!. Saddler, and L. W. Monteath (secretary).
A letter was received from the Const! ar-Agent'* for Italy in Wellington, asking lor assistance for tlie Italian Ked Cross, awl suggesting that an appeal should be made on .September "Oth which was the Italian National Day. Ft was decided to replv that at tiie present time the British* and New Zealand lied Cross appeals, and other patriotic >florts. were absorbing the i.wti'ict's interests and energies.' The treasurer's statement showed receipts since last meeting £l2 los 4d | and expenditure ,C 52 (is Cd, leaving a Ibalaneo in hand of .C 124 17s lid. Accounts amounting to £2 -Is were ,passed for payment.
