PEDIGREE JERSEYS.
SUCCESSFUL CLEARING SALE. That the Jersey cow still maintains its popular was manifest 011 Monday by the large attendance from all parts of Taranaki, and from outside districts, at the clearing sale which was conducted by Mr. Newton King at Mr. .1. Davidson's homestead, Motunui. Messrs. C. I'V.v--brother and K. Cottier alternately wielded the hammer, both being in good form, and as bids were brisk the herd was quickly disposed of at satisfactory prices, the 44 cows, averaging 42 guineas. The top «priee was l'.lii guineas, realised for Mahoe's Bilberry, while another cow and a three-year-old heifer realised the century. Some of the two-vear-old and yearling heifers had evidently received a check, and were not looking as well as Mr. Davidson would have liked. With I the exception of one, which goes to Woodville, all Hie cattle remain in Tara[naki, being well distributed throughout the province. I At the conclusion of the pedigree sale a number of grades were offered, and realised as high as £:)2, the average being .€2l (is. The following are the prices realised: cows.
