It shows tliat in Auckland 100 sections have been selected, and 28 I are unsettled. There are three forfeitures in the district, all oh the onel settlement. In Hawkes Bay all sections offered! have been selected, and there have been no forfeitures. In Taranaki 16 sections hare beeii taken up. There have been two forfeitures. In Wellington there hla.ve been 105 sections taken op, and one remains uni selected, but there have been 29 forfeitures, very few of them for reasons which could have been foreseen by ■ the Government. In Marlborough six sections have been selected and there are six remaining, in. eluding one that ha* been forfeited. In iNelson only one piece has been purchased, and it has not been offered. In Canterbury 33 sections have Ibeea selected, 12 remaining and one being, forfeited for domestic reasons. In Otago there have been nine sectidni settled, and there are 35 unsettled, bu( it appears that at leasft 20 of them hav< not yet been on the market. In Southland there are 10 sects oga oo ■cupiedand four unsettled.
