NEW VESSELS LAUNCHED. AT RATE OF 6,000,000 TONS PER ANNUM. Washington, August 9. It is officially announced that the July, launchings in American yards arc 07 steel ships, of 435,244 deadweight tons; 53 wooden ships, 187,000 deadweight tons; three composite vessels of 11,000 deadweight tons. In the same period 41 vessels, of 235,052 deadweight tons, have been completed, of which 36 are steel, of 217,052 deadweight tons, and 5 wooden, of 18,000 deadweight tons. The launchings in July exceed the whole annual pre-war output—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BRITISH AMBASSADOR PRAISED. New York, August 9. The New York Times, in an editorial, emphasises the splendid work done in tlie United States by Lord Reading and hopes that his visit to England will be but a brief interruption in his extraordinarily useful and valuable labors.
