GOLF.
Owlns to the wet weather the New Plymouth Golf Club's monthly St. Andrew's Cross match was not played on Thursday. The final of the Standish Cup competition was played between A. Bewley (4) winner of the Saturday round and A. 8. Hassel (9), winner of the Thursday round, and resulted in a wltt for A. Bewley by 2 up and 1. To-day a bogey match will be played. On Thursday next a mixed foursome competition will be played, tho whole of the pro* ceeds from which will be handed to the Red Cross. This match will be open to members of any golf club affiliated with the New Zealand Golf Association, and partners need not be mem* bers of the same club. .Entries, together with entrance fees (one shilling per player) and club handicaps should be forwarded to tho secretary of the New Plymouth Golf Club by Tuesday next, 13th instant. As ail the proceeds of this match will be devoted to so good a purpose, it is to be hoped that members of Witlora and Inclewood Clubs will assist.
