NEW ZEALAND'S PART.

"A RECORD TO RE PROUD OF." New Zealand's record in the war was dcsflt with by Sir Francis Bell (Attor-ney-General in a speech at a public ■ netting at Khandalla'h on Monday evening. "Xow let me ask you," he said, "at tho end «f the. fourth year of the war: Have we in .Xew Zealand any reason to regret the part we have elected to take* Surely not. Surely, if the waT ended in this year we shall have in Mew Zealand a record of which our sons and our sons' uo;is may bo proud—-(applause)—a record of an unfailing observation of c\?ry promise that Mew Zealand has made, of every Reinforcement of our Division that New Zealand has promised, of efi'oi-.t after effort made. And shall it not be so next year? if the war ends in another year, are we to change that—to hand down another record to our children's children? It seems to me, as I have said, if the '"ar ended to-morrow, wo could look back with pride and with satisfaction, even thorfgh our suffering has been little, and bur trials even lass—for there is no poverty and suffering in our midst, other than the sorrow of tho families who Slave lost the and tho bravest. We have really had to tear but a, small part of tho suffering of this war; but such as Mew Zealand could do, we have tried to do. And so far wo have not ohanged in attitude and loyalty to the Mother Country- So far, as I have said, Wo have performed our promises; wo have carried out our obligations. Wo could, on the fourth year of the war, record that; and surely it should he—it is, It -must be —to every man and. woman in the country a source of personal satisfaction that ho and she is able to say that of the country we-have made ours." (Applause.)
