In a newspaper controversy regarding post-war policy, Mr. Beeby, Minister for Labor and Industry, contends that threats to continue the war after a military victory in the economic sphere will only tend to solidify our enemies. Nothing could be more useful to the Kaiser than such an announcement by responsible Empire leaders. Mr. Beeby declares that Australia has an open mind on the question, and, until the final balancing takes place, she is prepared to say that she does not care what becomes of the conquered colonies =0 long as the final peace terms prevent Prussian militarism ever again deluging the worid with blood and tears.— Aus.-K.Z. The Trades Union Congress adopted a preamble in favor of the abolition of the capitalist class and the ownership of means of production and the establishment of social ownership by the whole community, the change to be wrought by the workers uniting in one class—conscious economic organisation to take hold of the means of production by revolutionary industrial and political action.—Aus. and N.Z.
