(From Our Own Correspondent) There wag' a splendid attendance at St. Andrew's Church on Sunday, the anniversary of the declaration of war. Tho vicar held an intercessory service, and based his address on the text: "Who, by Faith, Subdued Kingdoms." There was a good attendance of returned soldiers (under Lieut A. Smith), Territorials (under Major Leich and Lieut. Paterson), and the Boy Scouts (under Scoutmaster Humphrey). The Vicar in his opening remarks welcomed the returned soldiers, Mayor and councillors, after which those were treated to an excellent address, which was highly appreciated. On Monday evening there was a fair attendance at tho Town Hall to receive a letter from (he Acting-Prime Minister witli respect to the continuation of tflie war- His Worship tho Mayor moved tho resolution to carry on until victory is gained, being seconded by Mr Wdnflekl and carried. Mr Corkill, chairman of the Moa Hoad Board, also moved tho resolution on behalf of the Moa district; this was seconded by Mr Lyons and carried. During the evening the orchestra varied thp proceedings with a couple of selections. Mrs W. Paul met with a Misty accident on Sunday through a oar driven by Mr Paul capsizing. Mrs Paul's injuries will necessitate her restiaa ie& patsai Jsme.
